The Master of Professional Accounting provides an accelerated pathway to a career in accounting for graduates who have earned a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline. The program equips graduates to articulate and advise on resource allocation issues within different organisational contexts and to prepare financial statements that satisfy user needs and comply with regulatory requirements. The program covers foundation knowledge of the double-entry accounting system, accounting information systems, and the legal framework within which business operates. It also addresses more advanced issues related to corporate governance, audit, cost and management accounting, internal controls, accounting for corporate groups, and contemporary issues in financial reporting. A range of non-accounting electives in disciplines such as Marketing and Human Resource Management are incorporated within the course in order to provide a broader perspective.

The program places a strong emphasis on ensuring that accounting practice is carried out against a framework of ethical behavior, social responsibility, and sustainability as detailed in the United Nations PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) initiative. Through carrying out a range of practical and theoretical assignments, both individually and in groups, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and breadth of perspective to capably and confidently fulfill the role of a professional accountant.

Graduates may find Accounting role in a variety of industries with medium to large scale operation.

The program is intended for people who have an undergraduate degree and/or extensive experience working within an organisation. Candidate should have:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Applicants holding other academic or professional qualifications and/or with no work experience may also be granted admission to the program following an evaluation of their academic and professional skills; or
• Applicants without tertiary qualifications, but with significant managerial work experience, and an assessed capacity to undertake study at this level may also be granted admission.
• Required proficiency in English: IELTS overall band score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0 TOFEL Paper 550 (TWE 4.5), TOFEL Computer 213 TOFEL iBT 79-80 with minimum of 19 in all sections, Pearson 50 (no band score less than 42) and Cambridge 52 with no less than borderline in each skill.
